Because the very notion of this technique incorporates breaks, allowing everyone to remain focused when they are doing their work, but also utilizing break times efficiently. It’s important to make sure that people are using their breaks in the right ways, by not thinking about work and actually “powering down.”
This is not an easy thing in the modern world. When you are focused on one task, you’ve got to commit to finishing it. But with the numerous emails and phone calls people can expect during the course of a day, what is the best way around this? The reality is that while you may have to answer emails, you don’t need to respond to them as soon as they arise.
