Being a nurse can mean working long hours and undergoing a lot of stress. It’s often a rewarding career, but it’s a very demanding one too. Even though you know a lot about health and medicine through your job, you can still be unhealthy as a nurse, both at home and at work. However, there are a few things you can do to stay healthy.
Eat a Healthy Diet
Finding the time to take a break and eat isn’t always easy at work, but it’s important to do so. If you want to improve your diet and keep your energy up, bringing healthy food from home is often much smarter than relying on the cafeteria or vending machines.
Stay Healthy on Your Feet
Nurses can spend a lot of time on their feet. To stay healthy, it’s important to wear comfortable shoes and to try and maintain good posture. Moving as much as you can, instead of standing still, can also help you to be healthier.
Form Trusting Friendships
Getting on well with your coworkers can mean a lot for your health at work. With good work friends, you have someone to vent to when you’re stressed and people who understand your life at work in a way that others might not.
Manage Your Sleep
Nurses can often find themselves having to work the night shift. Adjusting your sleep patterns to fit can be tough, but sleep is essential to your health. It’s vital to manage your sleep well, not just for you but your patients too.
