If you want to combine your love of travel with all things luxury, then what could be better than being able to combine the two, and looking for a career that allows to travel, as well as enjoy the finer things in life?

Of course, if you were to do a quick search online for this kind of thing, you are likely to get things like tour guide or ski instructor coming up. They are good, but they aren’t permanent career options due to their low wages. In some ways they could limit your career progression.

So if you want to travel, but still make some good money, then here are some career suggestions for you.

Diplomat

If you love helping people, love your country, and want to help make the world a better place, then a career in diplomacy could be for you.

Whilst it is pretty competitive to get into, it can be a really rewarding career. You can travel around the world touting the interests of your country.

As well as being able to help people when you are abroad, especially if connected to an embassy, to help your fellow countrymen that are abroad and need some assistance. Graduate degree is usually required, and being able to speak other languages is an advantage.

Hotel Management

If you love travel and luxury, then there is no doubt that you have spent time in some luxury hotels around the world. But what about working in them?

If you live to help others, as well as move around the world from hotel to hotel, then this could be for you. Degrees aren’t always required, but it could be worth looking into something like a hotel management school to get some extra skills?

The hours in leisure and tourism can be long, but they can be flexible to allow time to see the world.

TEFL

If you are great with kids and want to live abroad in various locations, then you could train to teach English as a foreign language (TEFL).

There are programs for this around the world, so there is bound to be a destination that suits you. You get paid a normal salary, but it does vary from location to location.

Also, you may find in some places like southeast Asia, that your money stretches a lot further than it would back at home. This is an opportunity to meet new people and explore in your down time.

Being able to work as a freelancer (in anything that you choose) means that you can work anywhere. So if the nomad lifestyle is for you, or you just want the flexibility to travel whenever you want, then working as a freelancer can be a good option.

All you need is your laptop, smartphone, and WiFi. You can set your working hours. If you want to be out all day, you could do work in the evenings, for example. You don’t need to take time off work, and will be getting paid as you’re away.
