Career Change - Zinny Factor

Sometimes in life, you might take a step back and wonder how you got to where you are today (career path), and not necessarily in a bad way.

The truth is, everything that has happened in your life has contributed to who you are today as a person and more often than not, we don’t even realize what has made us the way we are.

Sometimes, events that happen in our lives can even change our career paths, and it’s a wonderful feeling when you’re content in life and you think to yourself how lucky you are to have ended up with what you have.

Take a look at these events that could change your career path to see if you’ve been molded by an event in your life too!

Having a baby

Having a baby is a wonderful part of life that many people have the pleasure of going through.

While labour and birth, in general, is painful, bringing a new life into this world is a feeling like no other.

However, the experience that you have during childbirth can in fact, change the career path that you would like to take.

Perhaps you struggled and needed extra help with delivering your baby, or maybe your midwife was fantastic throughout your whole pregnancy and birth?

Events like these often inspire people to become nurses, doctors, and midwives so that they can help women in the same predicament get through and deliver their baby safely.

Another career that you might consider taking up because of having a baby would be teaching.

Once you become a parent you’re likely to want nothing but the best for your baby when it comes to education, and this might inspire you to become a teacher so that you can impart your wisdom onto other children and help mold the minds of the future.

Having emergency surgery

Some people might have been unfortunate enough to have had to endure through an emergency surgery, and while they’re thankful to be alive and on the road to recovery, they might feel inclined to change their career to a surgeon or an emergency medical technician.

This is usually because they want to be the best version of themselves because someone saved their life, and they want to do that too.

Depending on whether their surgery was because of an accident or not, such people might even consider a career in the line of safety work too so that they can help prevent people going through what they did.

The death of a loved one

The death of a loved one is an extremely sad time, but quite often you will find that people will change their careers in honour of the person that they have lost.

So, if for example, the person that they’ve lost was suffering from a terminal disease, they might change their career to a scientist who works towards a cure or life prolonging drugs so that nobody else has to go through the pain of losing someone earlier than they should. Some other people start up NGOs.

Suffering from a long term illness

Suffering from a long-term illness can take a massive toll on the general quality of life. It’s understandable that people in such situation would want to take action into finding peace with their condition.

So if a person was suffering from say, psoriasis which is an autoimmune disease, they might consider becoming a nutritionist because the disease starts from the gut.

Or might look into beginning a career that means you’re researching why and how psoriasis works, and work towards finally finding something that will counteract the disease for good.

Another career such a person might consider is blogging. Starting up a blog that can help others with the same conditions will not only be a fantastic career to pursue, but it will help others with their problems too.

The loss of a job

The loss of a job in a person’s life is a panic-ridden event that leaves some scrambling to get back into work so that they can support themselves and family.

However, the loss of a job that a person is not really happy in might just spur them into finally starting that business they’ve been talking about.

Why not take the leap and start your own business so that you no longer have to worry about answering to anyone but yourself if this is your present situation? Plus, you get to choose when and where you work, and how much you pay yourself – awesome right?

As you can see, there are many different events in life that could inspire you to take a completely different career path. Have any of these happened to you and made you think about your career?
