We all want to feel free. One of the things which most people should want to get out of their job is a real sense of freedom.
If you don’t feel that you have this at present, then you might want to look into why that might be, and see what you can do to improve the situation.
As it turns out, there might be many things stopping someone from feeling as though they are free in their line of work.
It might be that you don’t like being tied down to a desk, or that you feel that you don’t have the chance to develop in your role.
Whatever it is, it can be stifling and disrupting for your life, and it’s something you will probably want to fix.
Let’s take a look at why you might be feeling less free than you would like to – and what you can do about it.
You Are Tied To A Desk
Many people hold jobs which cause them to be tied to a desk day in and day out.
If that is the kind of job you have, it’s likely that you don’t feel free simply because you can’t move around as you please.
You might have started believing that this is the only possible way to work – but nothing could be further from the truth.
As it happens, there are plenty of jobs out there which do not look like this, and which can enable you to move around as you please.
You might want to take one of the many tefl courses there are and become a foreign language teacher in other countries, for instance, in which case you can move around a lot.
Or maybe you should start working from home as a writer, illustrator or something similar. Either way, getting away from the desk could be all you need to do to feel freer in your daily life.
You Don’t Have Many Choices
Sometimes the problem is that you are not given much freedom within the role to do what you think would be best.
When this is the case it can mean that you gradually come to resent your role, and that is not a situation that anyone wants to be in if possible.
If you think that your job is like this, then you might want to look into changing it for one which allows you to have more of a say about what goes on.
This could just mean switching to a more lenient and understanding company – or you might want to change tracks completely, depending on what seems best for you.
You Can’t Choose Your Hours
The freedom to choose your hours is something that we all want, but relatively few people have it.
You don’t have to work for yourself to be able to do this these days – many businesses offer so-called flexitime so that you can work whatever hours you like so long as you work the right amount.
If you work for such a company, you will likely feel a lot better about your working hours, so it might be worth finding a company which offers this for you.

I have read your article carefully and I agree with you very much. This has provided a great help for my thesis writing, and I will seriously improve it. However, I don’t know much about a certain place. Can you help me?
