Now, if you’ve not been keeping on top of the latest marketing news, then you might have missed an important piece of information: video is currently massive, and it’s projected to get even bigger in the coming years.

Indeed, by 2020, somewhere in the region of 80% of internet traffic will be driven by video. Eighty percent! That’s a pretty darn big percentage, and it points towards one thing: people love videos! If videos aren’t currently part of your marketing, then it might be time to consider it. Here’s how you do it!

Speak to your Brand

Your videos will need to be a continuation of your branding, which should already be watertight (if it’s not, then maybe get to work on that before you begin with the videos!). If your organisation is light and playful, then you should be making light and playful videos.

If it’s a business that sells itself as making the customer’s lives more efficient, then ‘how to’ videos and other informative guides would make sense. You’ll undo much of the good work of videos if they’re at odds with the rest of your company.

Make them Look Awesome

With so many videos out there, you’re going to have to battle to get yours watched by internet users. Take a look at YouTube and the videos that other companies put out, and you’ll quickly see that the standards are high!

This is where a bit of knowledge can come in handy. If you don’t currently possess the expertise needed to put together a high-quality video, take a look at completing a video editing course with Training Connection.

There are no guarantees that people will love your video if it looks great (the content is a big factor too), but it is guaranteed that your video will quickly be skipped if it looks amateurish, no matter how good the content might be.

Bring the Fun

You get a little bit more leeway when it comes to your videos. Because they’re for a wide audience, and they’re relatively cheap to make, you don’t have to be as serious as you would be for, say, a Facebook ad campaign.

As such, don’t be afraid to bring the fun! Get creative, throw in some jokes, make it look bright and colorful, and so on. A video is a simple way to brighten up a person’s day!

Tell a Story

If you’re stuck for ideas when it comes to your videos, think of them as telling a story. What is your story going to say? There should be a beginning, middle, and end; what you put in each place is up to you, the only rule is that it has to make sense.

Short and Sweet

Finally, remember that attention spans aren’t what they used to be. People aren’t going to sit through a video that is unnecessarily long. Focus on keeping your videos short, simple, and to the point; you’ll get a lot more views than if you drag it out, for example.

And on that note, are you subscribed to my YouTube channel yet? We’ve got exciting videos coming soon so make sure you are up to date on past videos. Remember that videos can be somewhat time consuming but make it fun and enjoy the creative process.
