Moving on in business

What better way to get back to blogging than a mini introduction especially for my new blog readers?

I’m sure many of you don’t know one or two things about the person behind the blog, so I thought this will be a great way to introduce or reintroduce myself as the case may be.

Taking a two weeks break was absolutely needed because I wasn’t feeling too inspired to write at some point judging from my recent workload and new responsibilities.

It surely felt like forever. I missed writing, but looking back now, I see that the break was valuable. I found inspiration in many places I wouldn’t have if I didn’t take time off.

I revisited my core. I reconnected with the passion that made me start blogging about the workplace in the first place.

I came across some ‘get to know me’ questions on the internet and I’ll be answering a few below. And, when I’m done answering, I hope you get to know me a little much better.

1.What is your name and what does it mean?

My name is Ezinne and it means —good mother. I’m the first born and the first girl of my family so I guess you understand why I was named that.

The story goes that my father initially named me ‘Ifunanya’ which means love, but simply became irritated at how our neighbors mispronounced the name. At the time, we lived in a rural area in my village.

He asked my mom to make a selection between Ezinne and Nneoma, they both mean the same thing: good mother. My mom chose the former and it was added to my other name.

I still don’t get the gist though because ‘Ezinne’ still gets mispronounced as it’s not an English name. Anyway, most of my friends call me Zinny and I like that too.

2. How old are you?

I’ll turn 25 in October and I sometimes get that shiver remembering that I’m not getting any younger.

It sucks. Haha.

3. What are your hobbies?

Growing up, I had lots of hobbies and interests and it kept changing over time. I used to see this as a disadvantage in the past because I couldn’t stick to just one thing.

It took me a long time to finally make up my mind to enjoy every interest of mine. I’m still on this journey of discovering new interests and I’m fortunate to have someone that would go on a ride with me.

I love writing (obviously!), I also love watching movies, drawing. I love trying out new food.

Yup! I’m a foodie.

And occasionally, I try to cook or whip out something different.

I’m currently involved in a bit of photography and I just recently launched my channel on YouTube. Check it out here: Zinny Factor. This is great news for me, you should really view my first video.

Oh.. I also used to act in the past. I haven’t been able to act in a while but I’d be happy to get back to that. Drama is fun!

4. How would you describe your fashion sense?

I genuinely wish I was a fashionista because I admire people who look so chic and classy.

But this is not me, at least not now.

It’s quite weird because I love shopping. I think it’s even a hobby because spending some cash on a new item (not just fashion pieces) is a bit therapeutic for me, as crazy as that sounds.

About four years ago, a friend of mine and myself cleared our bank accounts to go shopping. It was wild and needless – true story!

No, I wouldn’t try that again.

But, I’ll be honest. We were happy that we did. Until it occurred to us that we’d be broke for another month or so. We weren’t thinking, I suppose.

That notwithstanding, I wouldn’t say I have high taste in fashion because I would never spend a large amount of money on a fashion piece. Neither do I mix and match well. Or so I think.

My favorite color seems to be black too, so you can see how boring I can get.

5. Tell us one of your bad habits!

My fingernails literally beg me to stop chewing it each time I get my palms closer to my mouth.

I’ve tried to stop this habit for years but can’t seem to. Or maybe I’m not just trying hard enough.

6. What is your biggest accomplishment?

I’m of the opinion that baby steps matter a whole lot. So I’ll count many of my accomplishments as big. But, two of my biggest accomplishment was deciding to change career and starting out this blog.

I studied law back in Nigeria, and it wasn’t a joke having to study so much only to realize that I wouldn’t love to go ahead on that path. It was a tough decision for me, and I almost let fear get a better part of me.

I feel elated when I remember that I’m doing something I actually enjoy and I can see career prospects too. My new channel is another thing I’m so thrilled about. I’ve been postponing it for quite a while. Please visit my channel and subscribe too: Zinny Factor.

I’m really excited to get back to blogging and I can’t wait to share more writings and other beautiful ideas with you. Now you know a little more about me, read this post to find out 11 random facts about me.

Tell me what your name is and what you do for a living in the comment section? I want to get to know you too.
