Like I mentioned in this post, we love movies and drama series as well. Some years back I could have sworn that I hated drama series (although I managed to watch all seasons of Desperate House Wives and loved it)- never say never! I thought movies were better off because they ended quite quickly.
Today I practically can’t survive without watching episodes of drama series. It gives me this happy relaxing feeling to an extent. When I am bored, feeling stressed, or just need to relax and there are no other plans in mind, then it’s drama series to the rescue.
This category on the blog is supposed to help provide you with relaxing indoor activities as well as outdoor. One way to release stress especially after stressful days of work is to watch drama series and just be at the moment. It’s just exciting to be in a world of creativity.
There are a lot of drama series out there but some tickle our fancy presently. We actually go ahead to watch even very old drama series or sitcoms from way back. Those sitcoms are just hilarious and engaging. In this post, we will list a few topping the list for now, in subsequent posts, we will share others.

Try to get a microwave popcorn for that nice experience at home
- Power
Network: Star
Program creator: Courtney Kemp Agboh
Executive producer: Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Power is an American drama series that keeps everyone under serious suspense. It’s a story about one powerful man and all his dark secrets he must battle with. This is one of our top shows and we are in love with this drama series. The story line is great and you will rarely be able to predict anything.
If you haven’t been watching this show and you love drama, suspense, action -as a matter of fact: everything, then this is the show for you! The story is so appealing and captivating and 50 Cent did a great job with this show, we must confess.
The cast is impressive. One minute you are so pissed with a character, the next minute, you are feeling so emotional for the character. One minute you want someone exposed, the next, you are rethinking your decision. The show is approaching its fourth season and we can’t wait honestly. We want it out already- but that’s the beauty of series, you keep wanting more.
We love the soundtrack of this show. It keeps us energized haha. Truthfully, I am always dancing to it before the show begins. Season four is slated to premiere in 2017, if you haven’t gotten a hang of this drama series, you still have time to catch up on the previous ones. You will not regret it.
We rate this drama series 8 out of 10
2. Game of Thrones
Network: HBO
Created by: David Benioff, D.B. Weiss
Game of Thrones is based on fantasy and has a number of directors. The sixth season ended in 2016 and we can’t wait for the seventh season. The show takes you to imaginary medieval times and beyond.
This series has a huge budget and is acted in several locations around the world, so you can always expect great quality. The storyline is also very intriguing. It tells the story of fictional seven kingdoms and the battle for power among families and dynasties. It’s indeed a game of thrones!
Initially, I couldn’t get past season 1 of Game of Thrones for whatever reason, but everyone kept on talking about how interesting it was. Allen, my fiance eventually made me watch all episodes leading all the way to season three and that’s where the juice gets sweeter. If you are like me, don’t worry, move up to season three and you’ll thank us later. If you haven’t been watching this drama series, what are you waiting for? You’ve got some time before the next season premieres.

3. The Crown
Network: Netflix
Genre: Drama, Biopic
It is created and Written by Peter Morgan.
The Crown is an American-British television drama series, that tells a biographical story about the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. The show was released in November 2016. As expected, every episode was captivating, interesting, and we appreciated history once again.
If you can get a hold of this drama series, why not? Please bear in mind that this show needs a lot of attention for you to appreciate and absorb the story. It’s really detailed, you can’t even chat or talk too much (if you are like me) when watching this show.
We promise, dedicate an hour to an episode and you won’t regret it one bit! It’s really inspiring. After watching this show you will appreciate the fact that there is more to life than just money and power. Tough decisions are made almost on a daily basis by great rulers.
You will also get to see the past life of The Queen, the fact that she is still alive makes it even more interesting. Several critics have also praised the show for having good historical accounts of The Queen.

4. Jane the Virgin
Network: The CW
Genre: Dramedy, Romantic comedy,Satire, Telenovela
Created by: Jennie Snyder Urman
After watching just one episode on my colleague’s laptop back when I was in Nigeria, I knew I was hooked to this show. Jane the Virgin is an American Telenovela. Since it’s telenovela, of course, expect some romance -but there is a bit of crime and maybe action: just a bit! I happen to be a huge fan of Gina Rodriguez who is the major character (Jane) so yes, I love this show!
This series tells the story of a young working, religious Latina virgin who is determined to remain a virgin until marriage. She gets artificially inseminated by mistake and discovers that the sperm donor is her boss. She begins to make a lot of tough decisions concerning her future as a result of this.
It’s telenovela, so once in a while, you may have a slight glimpse of what may happen (you know what I mean yeah?) Somehow I love this show. We particularly like the narrator, he is just so hilarious. If you love a bit of romance and comedy then this is the show for you. The show is still in its third season and running, it’s never too late to catch up.

5. Insecure
Network: HBO
Genre: Comedy
Created by: Issa Rae, Larry Wilmore
The show also stars Nigerian-American actress Yvonne Orji. The first episode premiered in October 2016. It’s supposed to be a comedy series but it feels more like drama and romance.
This show explores the black female experience from the perspective of the two female characters who are friends. It also addresses issues of career and relationship. One of the friends works at a non-profit that benefits middle-school students of color and she has also been in a long term relationship. The other is a successful corporate attorney who has career success but difficulty with dating men and finding the right man. The show just ended its first season and we are patiently waiting for the second.
Disclaimer: The acting isn’t a hundred percent but the story is great. The story is quite relatable.
We rate this drama series 7 out of 10
Tip: If you hate waiting for the next episode or season when watching shows, watch them alongside other series. Have about five shows you watch at the same timeframe so that you don’t get frustrated waiting on one.
I actually suggest you watch more of drama series if you have your days super packed and busy. This way, you can spend about 30 minutes in a day (watching an episode) to just relax over a bowl of popcorn at home: no worries! Do this last thing before bed and you will feel lighter. Also, you’d be so eager to know what’s going to happen next and that feeling is so easing.
What drama series are you glued to? Have you seen any of these and how much do you like it? If you haven’t seen any, which one do you plan to start with?

I guess its bad that I’ve watched none of these? D: I’m a big Scandal lover, love Suits and also a huge reality junkie but I am in need of a new show, so was actually thinking of checking out power! When I start a new show though, I juts can’t stop haha, so may have to leave it to the Christmas period.

Hey Kemi, it’s certainly not bad that you haven’t watch any. You have other shows you are used to and that’s not bad at all. These are just suggestions haha. You should really check out Power, it’s so interesting! It would be great for Christmas, I bet you!
Have a great week dear.
I don’t think I can keep up being faithful to drama series…Scandal, Was of and on Empire, then it was Blacklist, New Girl… I think I’ll stick to movies for now. Nice post… Still considering Power (heard too much) When I’m clueless on which path to follow, I’ll likely come back to this post.

This time the year I usually have more time to catch up on movies and tv shows. Maybe I’d get on something from this list, they all sounds really good. Thanks for sharing
