The Jokers In Your Hand To Launch Your Career

It’s not what you know. It’s who you know. You’ve probably heard the saying countless times, uttered with a sneer of disgust. When it comes to moving your career forward, there are two schools of thought.

The first one believes that you can only get a promotion if you know the right people, meaning that you’re less likely have earned your new position by merit. The second school, however, reckons that everyone has the tools to create professional progress and land their dream position. Just by being themselves. Not by asking others to influence the decision.

Are You Looking To Make A Change In Your Career?

There are plenty of fields of work that seem like they could offer you a change and something far more fulfilling and exciting than the standard work-a-day world. Whether that’s because it offers an amazing, vibrant working environment or because it gives you the opportunity to work in an area that really lets you help people.

Everyone, from time to time, thinks about changing their career and striking out into something different. Tips On How To Grow Your Side Hustle As A Full-Time Worker

Many workers are starting to see reasons why they should have a side hustle. As a result, this is now the ‘gig economy’. Having another means of income can be beneficial for a number of reasons, however, this is not something that every employee must venture into.

You need to be certain it’s something you are comfortable with. Otherwise, let it remain a hobby as running a business however small is no easy feat!

It’s a way of reducing your dependency on your main source of income (i.e. a backup plan for your life or career). A side hustle is also one way of reaching financial freedom, as you are able to increase your residual income most especially if your full-time income isn’t good enough.

How Mentorship Has Helped Me

A few years ago, I didn’t think mentorship was of importance. Today, I can attest to how important having a mentor is as I’ve gained immensely from it and can tell you that it’s a lifesaver. Is there one way to find a mentor? The answer is no.

My world of mentorship all started the day I decided to join a friend for a networking event. At first, I was skeptical about going for the event but summoned up courage as I wanted to mingle a bit.

How To Make Your Work Experience Count: To Study Or Not?

Every experience we go through in life is a lesson and no matter how much we may think there might have been some mistakes somewhere, it shouldn’t be seen that way. This is a lesson I have learned time and over again.

Career growth and planning has fascinated me for the most part of my life. One question I often receive is: “Zinny, I am about to immigrate, should I study or just find a job?”

The next question I most likely ask is: “what would you want to do career wise? Do you want to go ahead practicing what you already do in your home country or would you rather change career?”

Whatever your answer to that question is should help determine next steps. However, from my discussion with some readers who ask me this question, I have realized that most aren’t necessarily sure what they want to do next and even if they want a career change, they aren’t sure how to go about it and how to gain or grow work experience.

Is Your Job Making You Miserable?

If your job is making you miserable, then this might sound like a typical thing that most people have to put up with from time to time.

But, a job has the potential to affect many parts of your life negatively, as it is like a dark shadow that dominates your life. You talk about it with friends, partners, and even kids – it can consume you – and it can certainly bring you down.

We saw a movie a few days ago. Long story short, the lead role quit her job because she wanted to start thinking outside the box for a while. This is a valid reason but it was so dramatic as with most movies.
