Learning About Life When Working Abroad

*This is a collaborative post.

Somethings in life are not for everyone. That has to be the caveat I’ll start with because hurling yourself into a new job in a new country that is saturated with new cultures and ways of doing things is not everyone’s mug of Earl Grey.

It can’t be.

But for those that have decided this is the route they want to go, wow, it is one of the most amazing ways of boosting your career and one of the most exciting ways to grow as a person.

Having the right attitude may only be part of it, but it’s definitely the foundation you need in order to make a success of your decision, especially when you hit that three-month wall.

Misunderstanding: What We All Need To Know About Entrepreneurs

*This is a collaborative post.

Entrepreneurs, are a different breed to most. We are conflicting and conflicted characters, and so we are incredibly misunderstood. Same applies when you meet a fellow entrepreneur, while there is a kinship in us pulling together as one, ultimately there is a lot of competition and debate on this.

I consider myself a creative entrepreneur as I’ve stated in previous posts and overtime even though I still work a regular 9-5. I’m sure by now you are one of those that consider creatives to be entrepreneurs. And even though in the past I wouldn’t have considered myself to be an entrepreneur, I’ve learned a few tips that I’m going to share.

The Liebster Award & 11 Random Facts About Me

I have to say a big sorry to these two wonderful bloggers. First, Ijeoma of Ijefinelivin.com who nominated me several months ago and Oyinyechi of oyisixtus.com who also nominated me about a few weeks ago.

Once I received these nominations, I was so humbled and had planned to answer the questions as soon as possible. This post has been in my draft folder for some time and despite any excuses I may have, I still think I did wrong by them. So, a huge apology to these awesome ladies. I really hope you find a place in your heart to pardon me *I feel so ashamed.*

The Casa Loma vlog | Museum | Weekend Escape

I’m taking you along with me to Casa Loma. it’s a Gothic Revival style house and gardens in midtown Toronto, now a museum and landmark. It was built as a residence for financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt.

Casa Loma was constructed from 1911 to 1914. I’m sharing another weekend with you, giving you the highlights, reminding you to have fun on weekends, and hoping that you also create an intersection between work and life!

DIY | Personal Finance | Natural Hair

A few years ago I transitioned to natural hair for several reasons. One of the best parts is having to take care of my hair myself. This has helped me save money and improved my personal finance (at least in the aspect of hair care).

I can’t say it’s been extremely easy to make my hair myself, but in this video, I have shared my tips on how I’m able to do this.

Disclaimer:
DIY is not for everyone depending on how busy your schedule is. It’s okay to visit the salon once in a while (those are professionals), but if you want to live within a budget as a worker, then you should be willing to do some things yourself once in a while.

I hope this video inspires you and I hope you enjoy watching. Let me know in the comment section whether you make your hair yourself. What other thing do you do yourself?

4 Celebrities who Drastically Changed their Career (They are Inspiring!)

Celebrities are loved. That’s why they are famous and I have some celebrities that inspire me. Don’t you?

So many times I sit still and just think! I don’t think that’s creepy if you think it is anyway. Since I started blogging, I’ve had a handful of time to sit and try to be creative. I guess that’s what creatives do.

And many times I wonder what it’s like for other people who might have changed careers.

Since changing my career from law to human resources, I’ve also been able to add creative, blogger and writer as some professions of mine. Isn’t that cool?

And I’ve also thought of what it’s felt like for other people who aren’t ‘professionals’ but still have a career they build.

Do You Look Forward to Fridays?: Living a Well-Rounded Life

This week has been the longest, true story!

I thought to update the inspiration category of the blog as it’s been a while since I last did that. I recall publishing something quite similar here.

You know what’s funny? I’ve had this post drafted for some time and I was going to publish it last week Friday, but I hesitated. One of the reasons is because I don’t necessarily publish posts on Fridays if you’ve noticed.

I’m working towards sticking to a schedule, but of course, I understand that things may change every once in a while and it may be affected. Also, I don’t want to put out too much content so much that you barely have enough time to absorb it.

How to Handle an Overly Competitive Coworker

Don’t you just love a friendly competition? You and your coworkers or friends uplifting each other and breaking boundaries!

When Jamila left a comment at a previous post (read here) stating that she would like to see a post discussing how to deal with competition at work, I knew it was about time I drafted one (because I’ve had it on my mind for some time).

That not withstanding, I wanted to start out from a positive perspective before moving forward.

If that sounds cliché, I totally get it. Most people claim to be positive when in fact they are doing the extreme opposite. But it’s a better way to look at everything that has to do with life irrespective.

4 Doable Ways to Balance your Work/ Job and Relationships

When I decided to blog about balancing your work schedule with relationships of any form, I thought I was going to be the first person to write on it.

Or at least, one of the first few.

I thought to blog lightly in today’s post and discuss on more practical issues that affect most workers just as I did in my last video. Check out my video here.

As expected, the internet proved me wrong.

A little google research reminded me that there’s nothing new under the sun. Good news— everyone has a different take on the topic and that’s good enough for me!

So here’s me, giving you my two cents on this issue.
