People usually think of the new year new me saying as changing things about their physical selves or lifestyle. For example, the most common one to change is diet or fitness. But, at the same time these are both the hardest things to change.

So why not make your new year’s resolution one that is easy to stick to, and actually will dramatically change your life. A career change. There’s no point being stuck in a career you’re not happy in, so you might as well make arrangements to find a new career.

Outlined below are some great career paths that may change your life in 2018.

Your own boss

This is probably going to be something that will appeal to most of you out there, but actually becoming your own boss can be pretty hard. All you need is a bit of determination, some patience, and a great idea to make it in the business world. That is if you’re going down the more corporate business route.

You could always try becoming a freelancer and see how that works for you. There’s plenty of areas in which you could go into freelancing as well, it all depends on what interests you. You could be a wedding planner, or a photographer. Both have the potential to earn you a lot of money. You could become a restaurant manager, coach or event coordinator. Having that freedom to work when and where you want as well can be freeing if that’s what you want.

Just remember to do a lot of planning before embarking on such a life changing decision.

Financing

Financing might not be as exciting to some people as going freelance, but there’s money to be made in this area. There’s also many different routes you can go down in the financing career area, so you can actually do something that you find interesting.

The most obvious career option here to most people seems to be made managing finances on either a freelance basis, or working for a big corporate company. But you can also do things such as manage debt consolidation programs and help people through their debt problems.

There are also personal finance bloggers who have turned out to become finance coaches or write for other online platforms. The most important thing is to have the desire to solve finance problems.

Millions of people are in debt across the world, so having the rewarding feeling of knowing you’re helping someone through such a terrible time often makes the job so worth it. All you need to do is make sure your math and problem skills are on point, and you have some form of education in financing if you want to be able to get a good job.

Nursing

This is the most challenging career listed, but it is by far one of the most rewarding. You have to be a certain type of person to be a nurse in terms of your characteristics. You need to be strong minded, kind, and caring and be able to deal with stressful situations.

Yes, the hours might be long, and you’ll be exhausted a lot of the time. But the reward you’re going to get for caring and giving someone a better life is going to be more than worth it. There’s plenty of room for progression as well in nursing, and there’s enough money to be made to live a decent lifestyle.

At the end of it all, the most important thing is to have the desire and passion for any of these career options before thinking of the money or profit to be made. Give it some thought and be sure that this is what you want out of your new career.
