Thankful for 2017

If you’ve been an ardent reader of the blog, by now you know that I started a tradition back in 2016 for some reasons. I decided to start penning down my thankful notes for each year before the next year.

It’s an opportunity to look through the year and remain thankful despite whatever challenges I might have encountered.

If you didn’t have the opportunity to read that of last year, you can read it HERE. I went back to that post and kept smiling all through. I suppose this is a great tradition to keep here on the blog.

Also, I’ve had some readers send me emails and messages that I should have more personal posts from time to time. So this one is for you!

At this time of the year, it doesn’t hurt to be a bit laid back. I mean, I’ve been bugging you on how work is changing today in the society, on how I’m sort of addicted to my phone. Oh, what about the many posts on entrepreneurship and being an employee?!

Jeez… I might have been too serious. So let’s cool off with a glass of hot chocolate (because I actually have one here) and this read.

Thankful for the year 2017

JANUARY

January was another month I survived the cold in Canada. I guess this is always going to be the starting point for my thankful notes haha. But who cares?

The truth is that in December of the previous year, I quit my job because I wanted to continue my goals of pursuing a career in human resources and as at that time, I wasn’t really getting closer to that dream.

So by January, I was job hunting and hopping around in the cold. I was also very broke, but thanks to having a fiancé that provided for me. So really thankful for that.

FEBRUARY

In February, I landed a job. This was a huge leap for me and honestly, I will never forget the fact that I got this opportunity partly because I had worked in several other environments that had given me some form of training.

This inspired some posts like how to act on your first day at a new job and so many more. I equally received positive feedback from readers and that was good to know.

Just working in an environment that was one step closer to my career goals was really fulfilling and having to work with a good team was also beautiful.

MARCH

In March, Zinny Factor turned one! I was so happy because I never really thought I’d enjoy doing this for so long. I initially wanted to give it a try to see how far I get and if I’ll be consistent.

Apparently, I’m in love with this platform. I want to say a big thank you for your constant support, emails, messages, direct messages and overall encouragement.

Thank you so much for reading. It means a lot to learn that I’m doing something you actually enjoy. There was a giveaway to celebrate this of course.

APRIL

This month went by pretty fast. But I think something I did that I’m really thankful for was deciding to finally publish a blog post related to immigration.

There are several things that I wish I knew beforehand or that people shared openly. And after receiving several emails from readers I knew that I should write a post on how to get a job as an immigrant.

This post did really well and I received so much positive response. So that’s something I’m thankful for, that people saw value in it and I later went ahead to create a new category dedicated to immigrant workers.

MAY

My husband and I officially started planning our wedding. It was sort of stressful, I kid you not. But I’m just happy and thankful to have planned a special day with my best person ever!

Because of the whole wedding planning stress, I had to take a short break from blogging at some point, besides, I was also feeling a little laid back from blogging and thought I had other things I wanted to explore.

JUNE

I took some time off to enjoy life if I do say so. I went to my first official networking event and met some inspiring people. I read two books this month too. These activities inspired me a great deal -especially reading Black Privilege: Opportunities Come to Those Who Create It, written by Charlamagne Tha God.

I finally launched my YouTube channel which I had always wanted to do. I resumed blogging and so far I’ve been able to upload fifteen videos. I’m certainly not where I want to be, but I’m thankful to have started it in the first place despite several challenges and constraints.

Please subscribe to my YouTube channel (Zinny factor) if you are yet to. I’m sure you’ll love it, I’m constantly working on improving my video content and quality and would appreciate the support!

JULY

I launched the Magazine segment of this blog where I have the opportunity to interview amazing workers in diverse fields and have them share their knowledge with us.

I also spent quality time with my friends and family since it was Summer. I had my mom come over to spend quality time with me and as you all know, family means everything to me.

I also had the opportunity to go to another networking event where I mingled with entrepreneurs and learned some new stuff. I read more books and it was generally a month of learning, dining and staying close to loved ones.

AUGUST

One eventful thing that happened this month was the opportunity to go for a networking event held for a small group. It was hosted by Chanèle of DowellDresswell.com. It was a beautiful event and it was nice to meet new inspiring people as well as make friends.

SEPTEMBER

This month was quite stressful and I fell ill possibly because I was almost running insane planning my wedding. Thankfully, my husband stepped in and planned a successful wedding. I got married this month and it was beautiful. It finally became official haha.

I’m so thankful to have a supportive husband that loves me and is always there for me despite my flaws.

Thankful for the year 2017

OCTOBER

We both went on our honeymoon to a very remote and beautiful location. I had a great vacation, planning our lives together by the lake. It was very restful and I had a great time.

I turned twenty-five this month and couldn’t have been happier with how my life has turned so far. Thankful to have celebrated another year on planet earth with my loved ones.

NOVEMBER

This was just a busy month filled with work and personal projects. I also made a huge decision regarding my career and I’m so happy with what is yet to come.

DECEMBER

I’m so happy to have had an eventful year. I’m grateful to my amazing family and readers. I’m thankful for the new friends I’ve made through this platform and for the opportunity to work and collaborate with some brands.

I challenge you to undertake this exercise of thinking through what happened throughout this year and putting it to writing, it’s so relaxing and I couldn’t help but smile as I typed out this post.

Once again, I want to say a big thank you for your support and for taking the time to complete my survey. Because of you, I now have a clearer vision for next year and know what sort of content you’ll like to see in the new year. I’m excited for what I’ll share with you in the future.

May we find happiness and joy in the New Year and may we prosper and achieve our goals. Happy holidays!

Cheers
